Stanford Model Brings Fashion to Life
26/03/08
A local model brought fashion to life when shop window mannequins were swapped for real life models at an East Midlands shopping centre.
Anne Slingsby, aged 60 from Stanford, became a living statue in the window displays of high-street favourites Next, Dorothy Perkins and French Connection at Westfield Derby last week.
Along with other models from around the country, she helped breathe life into the season’s new collections by showing shoppers how the clothes would look on real people.
The veteran beauty, who has been modelling for over 30 years said “In all my years of modelling I’ve never done anything quite so unusual, but it was a brilliant experience! Seeing the looks on people’s faces when I moved into a new position was great fun.”
At intervals throughout the day, the models left their shop windows to take part in a catwalk show on the red carpet before parading around the centre.
Janine Bone, Westfield Derby Centre Manager, said: “We wanted to do something different this year to mark the start of the new fashion season. Bringing fashion to life - literally - is a great way of demonstrating the latest new trends for spring.”
Anne will be masquerading as a mannequin once again at Westfield Derby on Friday 4 April.
