Dream Date for Belper Tot

Barney-mania hit Westfield Derby for half term with shows in centre on Tuesday 19 February.
A Belper tot discovered yesterday that dreams really do come true when she met her idol at Westfield Derby Shopping Centre.
Charlotte, who turns two in March, became besotted with Barney when she received a singing version of the purple dinosaur at Christmas. Since then the tiny tot has collected all his DVDs and toys and knows the actions to her favourite Barney songs.
Charlotte’s big chance to meet Barney came when he visited Westfield Derby on a whistle-stop tour of the UK. The Horsley Primary school pupil was thrilled to meet her hero at last and even sang the clapping song onstage with the children’s TV megastar.
Mum Donna Bennett said: ”Charlotte was absolutely delighted to meet Barney. She can’t stop talking about it and will tell anyone who will listen that she sat on Barney’s knee and gave him a cuddle.
“Having met him she is more obsessed then ever so it looks like I’ll be living with Barneymania for a good while longer.”
Barney’s visit to Westfield Derby is part of a series of appearances from children’s television stars planned at the centre, and will be followed by Bob the Builder on Thursday 21 February.
