Belper artist takes Westfield kids back to school

22/08/08

Local artist helps kids to get creative for going back to school.

A popular artist from Belper is taking centre stage at Westfield Derby this week.

Tess Willoughby, a local craftswoman and storyteller, will help local children get their creative juices flowing with a series of ‘Back To School’ craft workshops at the centre.

When she’s not inspiring children to cultivate crafts, Tess can be found at her newly opened craft workshop ‘Courtyard Arts’ situated in Market Place, Belper –  a place that makes a point of inviting adults to enjoy arts workshops as well as children.

The artist is full of enthusiasm for the various craft workshops she has conducted over the summer, listing space rockets, wishing trees, ceramic 'window' paintings, giant murals and even Dr Who cartoon drawings as just some of the creative outcomes.

Tess said: “Like all of my projects, creating the workshops for Westfield has been a lot of fun – it’s great being able to share my love of art with others!”

The workshops offer children of all ages the chance to make their own PE bags and matching charm and are taking place on the 26 and 29 August from 12-5pm.
