Born in Florence in 1940, Roberto Cavalli established himself in the 1970’s when his homemade leather patchworks were adopted as the clothing of choice by the beat generation. Recognised for his sensual lines and innovative use of materials, Cavalli soon gained international prominence as one of the most original designers of the time
Reinventing himself in the 1990’s Roberto Cavalli is now recognised as one of the most innovative and creative of the great Italian designers and has achieved huge success whilst never forsaking his inimitable eccentricity.
The dominating image of the Roberto Cavalli Spring / Summer 2008 Eyewear collection is that of safari and travel, as expressed by the colonial atmospheres of Africa. The shapes are generous; exaggerated wrap-arounds, drop shapes and rounded square profiles. The palette is earth tones; from sand to bone, white to gold, vine red to brown and black and enriched by intricate jewels and iridescent reflections.
